When sorting, you may have one box devoted for all stuffed animals, another for all toy cars, and so on. You may also have specific boxes for small items like miniatures and the like to avoid losing them in the heap. Purchase fancy toy chests and boxes with child-friendly colours and designs. This way, they would find clearing up their own mess as enjoyable an experience as playing. You would definitely use their help for all the cleaning to come.
